It all started with a book I read in the 6th Grade, 'Harriet the Spy'. It went from a little book with a lock & key, to a spiral bound notebook, then to an IBM Selectric (I still miss the soothing hum and rapid fire 'chik' of that machine), then to word processing, a website, and now a blog. Gotta write something...even if it's just a little piece of the story.

Once again tonight ABC News website posts an article from the Lansing Journal about the record profits at the Detroit 3.  And, once again, I feel the need to vent my frustration to anyone willing to listen -- or not.  Does anybody else besides me see the stupidity in all this?  After all, this is OUR hard earned money we're talking about.  Did any of us give permission for this?
This announcement only reinforces my commitment to NOT purchase GM and Chrysler products. As a small supplier to the auto industry, we are FREQUENTLY bent over for give-backs and price reductions, to the point where we are not able to provide a fair market wage or full benefits to our employees, not to mention a bonus! As an American taxpayer, these companies took my personal funds to bail themselves out from their inept management, without my permission. NOW they have the audacity to pay out bonuses BEFORE they pay me back?? At my house, we pay our bills first. I have no gripe with the autoworkers who earn their wages. My gripe is with GM, Chrysler and the Obama administration. Shame on you -- the American people deserve their own bonus -- their bailout tax money returned WITH interest!

I'm angry.  I don't get this angry very often but total stupidity can make me nuts.  I blogged tonight on the ABC News website, in response to last night's World News blurb about GM's announcement of record profits & their plan to pay bonuses to their employees.  Anybody else out there see the idiocy in all this?  I just don't get it!!
The anger I felt last night when I saw your broadcast all but levitated me out of my chair. I feel as if this company, General Motors, screwed me twice. Professionally, this company, along with the other automakers, make their suppliers bend over daily to cut prices to the point where we can’t even pay our employees a fair wage, offer benefits, let alone pay a bonus. Personally, this company, General Motors, took my personal income to stay afloat and out of bankruptcy without my permission. Now they have the audacity to pay bonuses to their employees BEFORE paying me back?? I will NEVER, EVER purchase a GM vehicle — NEVER, EVER. They get my money from both ends AND I have to pay for the vaseline!!

I'm having a very hard time being motivated today.  We woke up to cold, wet and blowing snow.  This makes it difficult to get out of one's PJ's.  Being January, life is getting rather boring.  I found myself this week flipping through summer 'up north' vacation pictures, while emitting heavy sighs.  The weather, coupled with the daily grind, presses the dream upon me of selling all my earthly possessions so I could move north to live in simplicity and peace.  Ahhh.....one can dream.  In the meantime, I'm going shopping for shoes.

I had an epiphany tonight.  After years of struggling with political views that cross between the world of Republican and Democratic policy, I have come to the conclusion that I consider myself a Libertarian.  Now, if I could just figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life, I'll have it made.
